IEEE Education Society Student Travel Award

IEEE Education Society offers in 2025 IEEE Education Society Student Travel Award to assist IEEE Student Members at IEEE EdSoc financially sponsored conferences (EDUCON, DEMOCon, TALE, FIE, EDUNINE), on a competitive basis. Each award is subject to travel reimbursement through IEEE financial systems. No more than two students per institution will be supported, per year. No postdocs, faculty, or other senior research personnel which are part of the IEEE officers may be supported by the grant. These student awards will enable sharing scientific information and stimulating research interests for students in the field of education engineering.

IEEE Education Society Student Travel Award Financial Implications: up to 1500 USD per grant (registration fee, travel, allowance and hotel for 3 days). Student expense report and receipts must be submitted using the IEEE Concur Travel System

The student applicant must be a student member of the IEEE, extra points are given to members of Education Society.

The student applicant must be an author, co-author of an accepted paper in the respective IEEE EdSoc conference and present it at the conference in person.

The student applicant must be a student registered toward a Bachelor’s, Masters’, or PhD degree in a college or university when submitting their applications. Proof of this is required during the online registration.

During the expense reimbursement stage, the student applicant must show proof of having registered to attend the conference and of the travel costs.

A student who is awarded a student grant must attend and present the paper at the conference. Payment will only be made to grant recipients who submit the expense report (with receipts) within 45 days after the conference. More details will be provided to the students who are selected to receive a EdSoc Student Travel Award.

We encourage participation from underrepresented groups and diverse institutions across all geographical regions. Women, minorities, beginning graduate students, and first-time conference attendees, are especially encouraged to apply.
 

Application must be done online, using the provided form.
This information needs to be submitted during the application process: personal data, IEEE number, Student’s up-to-date CV / Resume, Advisor supporting Letter, Student statement, Conference Registration Confirmation Number, Estimate of the Travel Costs.

• Student’s up-to-date CV / Resume. This document should include citizenship and study level (undergraduate or graduate) and university; the document may include ethnicity and gender (optional, used to broaden the participation of under-represented students).
• Advisor supporting Letter. This is a reference letter from the student’s advisor or supervisor, or a professor who knows the student, if it is an undergraduate. We ask that the advisor confirms that the student has full-time status and is in good academic standing at the given institution, in brief, signed letter or in an attached email.
• Student statement. A 100 - 250 words statement from the student should include the following information: (1) A brief summary of research interests and accomplishments to date (students should demonstrate a serious interest in networking, through their coursework and projects). (2) A statement on the purpose of attending the conference.
• Conference Registration Confirmation Number. Applicants must register to attend the conference. Have your registration confirmation ready. 
• Estimate of the Travel Costs. This is just an estimate of what the grant money would be used towards, including conference registration, travel, and hotel. We do not ask for your receipts or for your booking, this will be done via IEEE Concur after the conference, based on a reimbursement method. 
   

• Students who have not received previous IEEE Education Society travel awards are given priority (5 points)
• Student member at IEEE Education Society (5 points), IEEE membership is compulsory
• Evaluation of statement and of the student paper relevance to the education engineering (at the conference) (max 10 points)
• If a student is a Bachelor’s, Masters’ (5 points), PhD Student (3 points)
• Student coming from developing countries (as listed by IEEE) (5 points)
• Student from underrepresented groups or/and first-time conference attendee (5 points)
   

The deadline for award submission will be decided for each conference.

• Application Deadline for FIE 2025: 14 September 2025
• Notification Date for FIE 2025: 28 September 2025

The IEEE Education Society Student Travel Award selection results will be posted on the conference website and society page and will receive a certificate. Applicants will be notified of the decision by email. Successful applicants will be notified with further instructions on how to receive their reimbursement via IEEE Concur Travel System.
